OKEHAMPTON Ladies, at home to the league leaders, were determined to keep the score down, having already suffered three heavy defeats to this young side.
Okehampton started well and were rewarded by an early goal from Kelly Cooper. Superb play from the back four made sure the away team never had a chance to equalise.
Excellent play by Okehampton kept Exeter out of the match and flustered. Michelle Vaughan put the icing on the cake for Okehampton putting the ball away to make it 2-0 before half-time.
Okehampton were not going to let this game run away from them and applied pressure from the whistle but it was Exeter who scored first, having been awarded a penalty.
Okehampton did not let this hinder them as Michelle Vaughan proved by rattling the oppositions' keeper with a barrage of shots. Sarah Rew, in goal for Okehampton, produced a terrific save in this half which spurred the ladies on to clinch the win, Cooper finding the back of the net just before the final whistle.
Okehampton had an early Christmas present — three points against a team no one has beaten so far this season.
The manager gave woman of the match to the whole team.
