Truro School Senior Colts XV 20
Kelly College Senior Colts XV 22
THE Senior Colts had met the much larger Truro School many times in their playing careers and had always been unsuccessful. But that blot was removed from their copybook in a game full of passion.
The opening period saw intense forward play with Rob Morrish and Sam Morton turning defence into attack through hard tackling. This possession was capitalised on by centre Cassidy Williams going over for the first try.
Shortly after, Rob Morrish left the field with a suspected broken rib and the pendulum swung back in favour of Truro who scored 15 unanswered points.
Kelly were far from beaten and clawed their way back with tries from the impressive Brad Marsh and the ever-present James Shaw, to put them ahead with five minutes to go.
Truro came back again and despite fine defence from Kelly, Truro recycled the ball and managed to get over in the corner.
The score was 20-17 with two minutes to go. Kelly refused to throw in the towel and back they came, with Morton making a run deep into the Truro half. From the resulting scrum Marsh made a half-break and managed to manufacture a pass out wide which put Cassidy Williams in to score the winning try of a memorable victory.
