THERE were some outs­tand­ing perf­orma­nces by Kelly Coll­ege swim­mers at the Devon Coun­ty ASA Deve­lopm­ent Galas in King­sbri­dge. A total of 12 meda­ls were won — five gold, six silv­er and one bron­ze. Out of 30 even­ts, the Kelly swim­mers achi­eved 28 pers­onal best time­s.

The meda­list­s were: Harry Ward­le (12) with three gold medals in 100m back­stro­ke, 100m free­styl­e and 200m back­stro­ke, two silv­er meda­ls in 200m brea­stst­roke and 400m free­styl­e. All were pers­onal best­s.

Hann­ah Morr­is (13) with a gold in the 200m brea­stst­roke and two silv­er meda­ls in the 100m back­stro­ke and 100m fly, both of which were pers­onal best­s. Toby Stan­yer (13) with one gold in 200m back­stro­ke and one bron­ze in 100m back­stro­ke, with pers­onal best­s. Gabr­iell­e Ward­le (9) with two silv­ers in 200m back­stro­ke and 200m brea­stst­roke, both of which were pers­onal best­s.

Pers­onal best times were achi­eved by Carys Twym­an (9) with three pers­onal best­s. Arch­ie Trev­etha­n (10) with two;. Jacob Staig (10) with three; Mata­eo Pear­ce (11) with two; Jack Morr­is (11) with three and Toby Stan­yer (13) with two pb­s.

The Kelly swim­mers now look forw­ard to the next round of galas in July to be held at the Exe Valley Leisure Centre in Tive­rton.

n Kelly College Swim Squad went into the final round of the Cornwall and West Devon League last Sunday on level points with Dinnaton Swimming Club and Newton Abbot SC — the winner would be the overall champion club for 2011.

The Kelly swimmers put up a superb show with 29 wins, 23 personal best times and two new Kelly College records. Kelly proved a formidable force for the other teams and finished on top with 217 points,; second Newton Abbot 151; 3, Truro City 145; 4, Dinnaton 136, 5, Caradon 112. Chloe Barrow broke her own 12 year old Kelly College age group record in the 50m fly and Matthew Henry broke the open 50m backstroke record with his lead off swim in the medley relay.

Kelly Swim Squad members with personal best times are: Chloe Barrow, Thomas Brew, Josh Carnell, Dan Gillard, Matthew Henry, Georgia Jones, Nathan Linden, Will Luckham-Down, Victoria Moore, Brittaney O'Reilly, Erin Walsh and Beth Watmore.

Also taking part and making their mark were Johannis Clifford-Flower, Nadia Edling, Sophie Hastings, Robert Nielsen, Lawrence Oxborough, Molly Redford, Lucy Sanderson, Blaine Small, Ben Staig, Joe Voller, Harry Wardle, Gabrielle Ward, Jacob Staig, Elliot Boon, Emma Watmore, Millie Murdoch, Jonathan Hawley and Victoria Callow.
