KELLY College triathletes collected medals in the Sidmouth Duathlon which consisted of a 600-metre swim followed immediately by a five-km run.

Rachel Hughes won the female junior category and finished fourth overall, completing the swim in 9min 17sec and the run in 23min 31sec. Alex Richards has just moved into the youth category, finishing fourth, against opposition almost two years his senior.

Tom Phillips had the fastest swim of the day, 7min 37sec, but cramps on the run kept him from winning the junior title, where he finished second.

The assistant triathlon coach at the college, Richard Brady, swam well (8min 22sec) and ran the fastest five-km of the day in 18min 39sec to win the overall title.

The day?s result keeps morale high for national selection events in the forthcoming months.
