A Level students at Kelly College last week celebrated an excellent year of results, again achieving a 100% pass rate.

The results also showed an impressive 122% increase in A* grades from 5.5% in 2011 to 12.2% this year.

The total A* to C result was over 82%, and there was an increase in achievement, compared with 2011, at each of these grades.

The results broke down as follows:? Grade A*s, 12.2%; Grade A*, A 30.1%; Grades A*, A, B 65.9%; Grades A to C 82.1 %.

Max Byrne achieved four A* in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. He will go on to study medicine at the University of Birmingham.

Harry Coulton gained three at A*: biology, chemistry and mathematics. He too is going on to study medicine, at King's College, London.

Samuel Lindsey, head of achool, gained an A* in economics and business and A grades in English Literature and history and will study law at the London School of Economics.

Peter Meachin achieved an A* in design and technology: product design, an A in mathematics and a B in physics. He is to study mechanical engineering at Loughborough University.

Ye Te Cai gained an A* in mathematics, an A in further mathematics and an A in physics and will study mechanical engineering at University College London.

Freya Semken achieved an A* geography, A in history and B in biology, going on to study anthropology at Durham University

Ben Williams and Joe Voller, both achieved the BTEC qualification with 3* distinctions. Ben is to study sports, exercise and physical sctivity at Durham University and Joe will study sport and social science at Bath.

Headmaster Dr Graham Hawley said: 'I am very pleased with the results. Our students applying for the most competitive university courses have secured their places and the hard work of every student is reflected in these grades. 

'I am particularly gratified that many students, across the whole spectrum of ability, have surpassed expectation and have achieved higher grades than they thought likely. All of the students and their dedicated teachers can be proud of what they have achieved together.'
