DEVON County Council?s mobile information vehicle will be visiting Tavistock and Okehampton today (Thursday) as part of a 32-town tour. The Devon in Touch vehicle enables people to access services and seek information on a wide range of topics and is staffed by officers from the county council, district council and other organisations including the police and fire service. It is equipped with six computers, linked to the internet, for free use by the public and has been successful in helping people to manage their lives, communicate with friends and relatives and pursue hobbies and interests. Over 200 communities or groups have been visited since the project started two and a half years ago with the initial idea of promoting interest in information technology. Devon in Touch will be in Simmons Park, Okehampton from 10am to noon and in The Wharf Car Park in Tavistock from 2pm to 4pm.
