Horrabridge Ranger 2

Woolwell Juniors 3

HORRABRIDGE dominated play for the first ten minutes, but were caught on the break and the visitors took the lead through a Rendle strike.

The home side replied well, playing good football, but could not manage to force the ball past the keeper. Woolwell made them pay for their inability to score when they doubled their lead courtesy of a good strike from their striker.

Horrabridge finally managed to get the ball back into the game when Aaron Johnson cleverly sent Josh Birch racing clear to smash the ball past the keeper.

Horrabridge could have added a few more just before the break but Woolwell keeper Alex Goss made some fine saves.

The home side started the second half well and created some good chances with Johnson, Rawlinson and Burgess all going close.

Horrabridge finally got the equaliser when Johnson sent the ball over the top and Courtney Fry made excellent ground to beat two defenders to the ball and place it past the keeper.

Horrabridge again went close to taking the lead several times, but it was the visitors who went in front against the run of play when Rendle scored his second.

Horrabridge bombarded the Woolwell goal with shots towards the end of the game but were denied by the post twice and the heroics of the keeper.

Woolwell had a chance to finish the game right at the end of the match, but keeper Oliver Cox made a spectacular save with his head to keep Horrabridge in the game. Woolwell finally hung on to claim all three points.

Man of the match: Dan Dawes.
