TAVISTOCK hockey juniors played host to Launceston juniors in a tournament at Kelly College. The U16 team played well and created some good scoring opportunites. James Barratt was formidable through midfeld and with Kate Eadie making some good block tackles, the opposition could not break through. Alayna Wreyford played well in goal and stopped numerous shots. The U16?s played each other twice with both games victories for Tavistock ? 3-1 in the first and 2-0 in the second. The U13?s played a triangular tournament as Tavistock had two teams in this age group. U13 A?s were strong in their attack and Jak Woodhouse and Kim Stenhouse were excellent in taking the ball from the opposition preventing them from scoring. Anna Court played well through midfield and was able to distribute the ball. Woodhouse and Tom Tosdevin were able to keep the defence strong. Tavistock drew 2-2 with Launceston U13 and the U13B Tavistock team 4-1. U13B?s were also strong and despite losing to the U13A Tavistock team they did score the first goal and had some excellent skill on the ball. Against Launceston this team battled well with Ellie Evans strong in defence and determined not to let Launceston have open shots at goal. With newcomer Hannah Whiting on the pitch, the ball was able to be moved out wide and then passed across for Chapman and James Tosdevin to demonstrate their skills. Tavistock U13B lost to Launceston 4-0. The U10 team played good hockey and Fern Toynton scored some goals along with Ben Brown. Tavistock played Launceston U10?s twice with victories on both occasions winning 4-1 and 1-0.
