Tavistock U13s 15
Devonport S U13s 12
THE game was hard fought up in the tight, but the backs on both sides looked rusty after their recent layoff due to poor weather. Nevertheless the boys provided good entertainment for the spectators that had braved the bitter conditions to turn out at Sandy Park.
It was therefore the forwards that dominated proceedings from the start and the mobility and speed of the Tavistock pack eventually took control which led to first half scores from their standout forwards Charlie Charlton and Will Slater.
With a 10-0 lead the home side were then rocked back by a quick break by the Devonport fly half who beat a number of tackles to cross close to the posts. He converted to reduce the deficit to just three points.
After the break Tavistock again took control up front with Charlie Charlton getting his second touchdown following a five metre scrum to extend their lead to 15-7. However the visitors bounced back immediately from a scrum close to the line.
Although the home side pressed hard to increase their points tally Devonport defended well in the latter stages and it was only some good defence that stopped a breakaway try.
Tavistock U12s 19
Ivybridge U12s 35
TAVISTOCK U12s put in a brave performance against a strong Ivybridge side.
The team struggled against the slope in the first period, narrowly conceding a try after a fierce defence of their line, and were unlucky to see Ivybridge score again moments later.
Tavistock fought back well in the second period, with three excellent tries from Charlie, one each converted by Tom and Harry, Ivybridge scored once in this period.
Ivybridge dominated the last period with two more tries, but excellent runs by Bertie, James and Charlie kept Tavistocks hopes alive right till the end of an exciting match.
Exmouth U11s 21
Okehampton U11s 14
THE young Okes started well winning the first scrum and spinning the ball to fly half Daniel Thorne who dummied his opposite number and tore through the defenders to score an excellent try, which he then converted.
Exmouth replied with a well worked converted try of their own to level the score. The Okes applied constant pressure throughout the remainder of the first half with Matthew Stoner and Finn Fallon - Clark running at the opposition from every opportunity.
The second half started similarly going from end to end but Exmouth took the lead with a soft converted try. Okes responded immediately with Daniel Thorne taking a long kick off, setting up the forwards who won the maul and set up Jack Raymond who drove over to score. The try was converted by Liam Pyle.
Exmouth scored a further converted try to retake the lead and despite strong running from Tom Bayley on the wing and Paul Roth at Hooker the young Okes could not overcome the restrictions imposed by a small pitch.
Okehampton U10s 20
Exmouth U10s 5
OKEHAMPTON came away with an impressive victory against an Exmouth side who more than matched them in the early exchanges. In fact the East Devon visitors took the early initiative as they drove over for a score after rucking Oke off the ball.
This seemed to awaken the Okes and they started to counter effectively. Jack Chapman showed good leg drive to force his way over for the equaliser. Shortly after this, the prolific Leon Horne pounced for the first of his two interception tries in the game.
Edward McCarthy showed a fine poacher's instinct to cross for the other score in an entertaining game watched by a cold but warmly entertained crowd.
In the second match Okehampton won by exactly the same scoreline as they triumphed once more. The full squad were able to prove their worth and tries were scored by Greg Daniel, Leon Horne, Ollie Ardon and Kieran Coyle.
Ivybridge U9s 25
Tavistock U9s 5
ON a cold morning the Tavistock U9s had to remember what a rugby ball looked like after three weeks of abandoned games.
The first half against Ivybridge proved this with five tries sending Tavistock into half time somewhat downhearted.
A big transformation after the half time talk and they woke up for the second half with a superb performance. Olly and Tom led by example and Joe scored the only try of the half after Tavy had shut Ivybridge out. Tavistock player of the match went to Joe Burbage.
Dartmouth U9s 15
Tavistock U9s 25
THE second game against Dartmouth saw a revitalised Tavistock team playing in a very close game but eventually coming out on top.
A try saving tackle from Freddie Grier Rees and great defensive tackles coming from Joe and Seamus helped Tavistock into a strong position. Morgan scored his first try of the season and really worked hard for the team. A length of the pitch run from player of the match Freddie Grier Rees secured the win for Tavistock.
Okehampton U9s 45
Exmouth U9s 5
THE first half began well for Oke, with a magnificent solo run by Will Risdon from deep within his own half. He sliced through the opposing defence to open the scoring for the home side.
Daniel Turney seemed to have found his speed in this game, not only tackling well but also managing his first hat-trick of the season. Nathan Tomkins showed his strength and determination to also get a hat trick. He was well supported Brad, Harris and George. Determined play from the Okes allowed Will to rip the ball from Exmouth and run home for his second try.
The midfield was dominated by Okehampton and it was pleasing to see a well timed off load which resulted in Gareth Crome scoring his first try, despite it being only his second game.
A second game followed, which Okes won 20-15.
Oke U8s 18 tries
Exmouth U8s 9 tries.

Oke set out their stall early with Daniel Tomkins (1), Harry Laing-Taylor (1), Saul Holliday, Liam Daintree, Jake Laing-Taylor, Mattew Denning, George Cox and David Smith all putting a lot of pressure on the Exmouth ball carriers and forcing mistakes.
The loose ball from Exmouth handling errors consistently picked up by Joshua Burgoyne (1) who broke their defensive line to help set up some great breakaway tries for Will Cunnigham (3), Cole Pengelley (3) and Charlie Glanville (3). All four players putting in a tremendous amount of hard work around the field. Ben Wharton (1) and James Close (2) both showed great cunning in attack turning the Exmouth defence inside out to score some well taken individual tries.
In his debut match for the Okes Ethan put in a great all-round performance scoring two tries. Oke showed great support for one another and showing there is real team spirit starting to grow within their ranks.
Okehampton U7s 12
Exmouth U7s 18
INDIE Horn captained the Okes U7s in a closely fought match played in cold but dry weather.
Jacob Smith scored the first try for the Okes, followed by Dylan Nicholas, Jay Jenkins, Indie Horn and their new team player Tom.
Jay was strong in defence, tagging Exmouth well, as well as scoring many times. Tom was on fine form scoring the most tries for the team.
The Okes as a team are improving well as the season progresses, having beaten Bude away last week in trying conditions and despite having a few games cancelled due to the recent bad weather.
