A FUN day by the Hatherleigh and Okehampton branch of the Cats Protection League has been re-scheduled so it does not clash with Okehampton's jubilee celebrations on June 2.
The charity's Sunday Spectacular, which was cancelled last year because of the foot and mouth crisis, had been planned for the Sunday of the public holiday weekend, but the town council has since announced it will be holding a day of celebrations for the Queen's Golden Jubilee in Simmons Park on the same date.
The new date will be June 30 at Okehampton Youth Hostel where between 10am and 4pm there will be a family dog show, craft stalls and demonstrations, tombola and silent auction as well as charity, books, cakes and plant stalls, trampolining, archery and climbing.
Secretary of the branch Pat Sawyer said: 'We do not want to detract from the town's celebrations so we decided to postpone the event and it is our intention to give the residents of the area a great summer day out whilst at the same time raise funds for all our feline friends.'
Anyone who can spare items for the tombola, silent auction or sale should call Joan on 01837 55409. Bric-a-brac, cakes and books are also being sought.
