Plymouth & West Devon Combination Senior League

Horrabridge 1

Ordulph Arms 3

THE Ordulph Arms claimed the league title in the final game of the season against rivals Horrabridge.

Ordulph needed to win to have any chance of winning the league and hoped United Services dropped points against University B.

The game was only a matter of minutes old when Ordulph were dealt a blow with James Coole having to be replaced through injury. Horrabridge took the lead with a superb volley from distance.

Ordulph got back on level terms just before half-time, the superb Paul Gliddon managed to get a cross in for Ben Stephens to head home.

The second half saw Ordulph a lot stronger and they had several chances to go in front, but also had to defend well.

Ordulph then went in front when Stephens played a superb pass through to Phillpotts whose shot was palmed into the path of Cowling for the simplest of finishes.

Ben Stephens added a third late on to win the match.

As the final whistle went Ordulph were informed that University B had drawn — that handed the league to the Ordulph and started jubilant scenes.

Ordulph expressed thanks to Mark Piper, Alex Moloney and Aeisha McCauley for their effort through the season, as well as the Ordulph Arms for their sponsorship.

Ordulph's next game is the George Gillett cup final at Bolitho Park on Thursday May 14 and all support would be welcome for the 7.30pm kick-off.
