TAVISTOCK enjoyed a good win on a sunny day. The threequarters had a lot of skilful ball exchange and defended well as a unit.

Simon Braithewaite score his first try after good handling with De La Cour and Colin Jones. Sam Lawson was close to the action and ensured ball was retained in the tackle. Sam Morton crashed over from a set scrum for a half-time score of 12-0.

The second half was interrupted by injury and handling errors on both sides but a further try by captain Morton sealed the win.

Hayward and Morton both kicked a conversion.

Man of the match: Simon Braithewaite.

Tavistock U14s 0

Devonport Services U14s 20

THE third match of the season between these teams saw the visitors stamp their authority on Tavistock and run in four tries without reply.

Most of the first half was played in Tavistock territory and initial attacks were held out by determined defence and good clearance kicks from Lawson, Ewing and Campbell. Eventually though the pressure told and Devonport squeezed through in the corner.

The Devonport backs carried out a number of simple but effective moves that brought two more tries before half-time.

After the break Tavistock had their best phase of play, pinning Devonport back in their own half, but never managing to threaten. Devonport broke out to score again and the rest of the match saw Tavistock again having to defend their line.

Liskeard U13s 10

Tavistock U13s 59

TAVISTOCK ran through nine tries to beat Liskeard in an entertaining game. Top scorer Jack Hodges burst through Liskeard?s defences three times, making his first hat-trick this season.

In the second half, not to be outdone , Sam Thwaites through direct running from the base of the scrum powered past Liskeard to score twice.

From well timed running and slick passing the backs created numerous overlaps leading to two tries by Ewan McCall and two from man of the match Doug Philipson.

The forwards, led by Marc Kerswell, scrummaged and mauled energetically to keep the momentum of the game firmly with Tavistock.

On Thursday there will be training at Sandy Park from just after six with John and Doug. Meet at Bedford square at 9am on Sunday as game is at Kingsbridge this week.

Exmouth U8s 25

Tavistock U8s 50

TAVISTOCK got off to a flying start with an early try from Jamie Stephens, followed by another from Jonty Newton.

Stephens scored his second following a good run by Theo Evans.

Exmouth pulled a try back only for Stephens to score his third. Rhys Davis added to the score with a fine try following a great run by William Colton.

Exmouth fought back but Tavistock?s defence held firm with Daniel Sargeant and Rory Kirkman tackling with determination.

Two quick tries immediately before half time, first by Davis then Stephens, put the game out of Exmouth?s reach.

The pace of the second half could not match the first and Exmouth pulled a couple of tries back before Tavistock were spurred back into action, with Henry Salmon scoring twice. In the last minute of the match Jake Backway completed the scoring.
