Chagford CC XI v President's X1

BATTING first the Chagford X1 made a solid start in what turned to be a low scoring game on a perfect batting wicket. 

Del Owen (22) and Mike Wright (36) putting on 50 for the first wicket and then an exhilarating 25 from Johnny Coburn enlivened the proceedings. 

However the introduction of Joshi into the attack slowed the pace and wickets fell at regular intervals with only skipper Jerry Christophers with 32 not out making an impact, and  Chagford were all out for a disappointing 154.  

West Indian Joshi in his 10 over spell took 4-22 being supported by Steve Sizmur's 3 - 29 and Andy Astley's 2-39.

In reply the Presidents XI made a bright start helped by some waywood Chagford bowling but although six batsmen reached double figures wickets fell at regular intervals and the Presidents XI were all out for 138 to give Chagford victory by 16 runs. 

Top score for the Presidents XI was 'extras' at 38 although if Joshi (14 not out) who batted low down the order at number nine had batted at his normal position at number three the result could have been different.

The wickets were shared beween D Christophers with 2-13, J Christophers 2-32, D Topping 2-26 , and Del Owen 3-34.
