Tavistock Colts 15
Crediton Colts 6
TAVISTOCK kicked off down the slope, but took time to settle.
Gradually they wrested control. With Stuart Blake winning most of the lineout ball, Josh Sutton was able to set the backs moving.
Crediton defended well but with Simon Pearce setting up a good drive the ball was moved wide for Hamish Pearse-Danker to set up again. A clever change of direction by Mark Ewings opened the way for Paul Harwood to score in the corner.
Tavistock continued to press, Simon Beard joining the line at pace, but Crediton did well and managed to clear.
Duncan Law made a good break through the centre, interpassing with Joe Lane but a last-ditch tackle kept them out.
A great drive by Darren Sutton was just held up, then a loose ball was picked up by John Pain who released Paul Harwood in space. He went into overdrive, cruising round the defence to score under the posts. Josh converted.
Crediton started the second half strongly, spinning the ball wide to the wing but Louis Addaway put in a great tackle and the danger cleared.
Crediton came back strongly and converted two penalties in quick succession. They bombarded the Tavistock line but the defence held firm. Richard Lloyd put in a great series of tackles, then Mike Knapman did a great job to hold up a drive over the line. Peter Welsh won the ball against the head for Tavistock to clear.
Crediton tried to kick over the tacklers but Richard Bridle was there to set up the counter-attack, which was taken the length of the field. Crediton were forced to concede a penalty which Josh converted.
Man of the match: Joe Lane.
