SIXTEEN year-old Josh Bush from Hatherleigh has had a busy time competing in a number of athletic events  — county, inter-county and national championships.

Josh won gold medals in both long jump and high jump disciplines in the county championships in English Schools Athletics Association events.

This gave him the chance to represent Devon in the South West Counties Championships where he won a further gold medal for long jump with a personal best jump of 6.44m. He then represented Devon in the English Schools National Championships in Gateshead, where he was ranked ninth in England for his long jump performance.

He has also been selected to represent Devon in the National Combined Events Championships which takes place in September.  This was gained by winning a gold medal in the Devon County combined events and then coming fifth in the South West and also achieving six personal bests out of eight disciplines. It gives him the chance to pit his skills against other intermediate (U17s) boys from around England in high jump, long jump, javelin, discus, shot putt, 100m hurdles, 400m and 1500m.
