Riviera Spurs Res 1

Chagford Reserves 3

CHAGFORD came from a goal behind, at half-time, to take all three points courtesy of a Jon Scarry hat-trick.

Playing up the slope in the first half, Chagford did well to contain Spurs

until a wickedly bouncing shot from distance eluded Matt Swift to land in the back of the net. The new 'keeper had performed well in some stormy pre-season matches and could have been allowed a slight aberration.

Buoyed by his team-mates at half-time, Swift contributed much to a second half revival.

The visitors equalised on the hour with youngster Jon Scarry bagging his first of three. Partnered at the front with player/manager Ralph, the player's confidence rose and he went on to score again before netting his third

minutes from time.

In between goals, Scarry saw another decent effort come back off the post to safety.

l Both Scarry and colleague, Will Cork, attended and did well at the Devon County U18's trials, held at Coach Road on Sunday).

CHRIS Woof, with two more goals to add to his pre-season tally, Robin

Crowther-Smith (2) and James Hambly scored the Chagford goals that continued the teams' form.

Newton Abbot '66 may have been relegated at the end of last season but they proved to be difficult opponents with the visitors pleased to have been given a strong test.

This weekend, the reserves travel to Marldon FC and the Firsts open their league campaign at champions Kingskerswell and Chelston.

Both matches kick-off at 3pm.
