JOHN Earle, presenter and cameraman for BBC TV South West, will be lecturing on his unique film 'The Mountains of Glass' at the Wharf, Tavistock, on Friday July 5 at 8pm.
This remarkable film, a shorter version of which was shown on BBC TV, portrays the conquering of two previously unclimbed peaks in the Darwin Range, Tierra del Fuego, with the veteran mountaineer Eric Shipton.
It gives a vivid portrait of the wildlife and geography of this 'uttermost part of the earth', which is swept by 100mph winds and savage storms.
John Earl is well known for his films on 'The World About Us', the two series Rockface and Canoe and many other programmes.
All proceeds from this film lecture will go to the Dartmoor Trust.
