THE popular Okehampton Tea Dance is returning to Okehampton Conservative Club on Sunday afternoons once a month on Sunday (September 27).

The tea dance group met throughout last winter to offset the closure of the day centres in the area. It gives people a chance to socialise during the winter months while capitalising on the popularity of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

Professional dance teachers John and Sonia Davies will return to lead the sessions. Providing music from the 20s, 30s and 40s, they teach basic steps for around 20 minutes, followed by tea and biscuits and then social dance time.

The dates for the tea dances are September 27, October 25, November 22, December 20, January 24, February 21 and March 20.

The tea dance was set up by the Time for Life community enabling service and received funding from Okehampton United Charity and OCRA.

Everybody is welcome to come and along and enjoy the afternoon – no need to be a dancer if you just prefer to watch and listen to the music.
