OKEHAMPTON Golf Club's John Spry celebrated his captain's day in fine style by winning the over 65's section with 41 stableford points.

Scoring was good in all division from the field of 149 players.

Division 1: 1 G Moysey net 63; 2 V Floyd net 63; 3 M Soby net 64. Division 2: 1 P Okopski 41 points; 2 J Tolley 40, 3 A Vernon 40. Division 3: A Anderson 40 points; D Prouse 40; R Martin 38.

Stuart Wilson had the round of his life on Saturday when he shot a 1 over par round of 69 giving him a net 58 from his 11 handicap. This was good enough to win division 1 of the competition by 5 shots.

Division 1: 1 S Wilson net 58. Division 2: 1 C Walsh, 42 points. Division 3: 1 D Shilston 42 points.

John Spry and Den Adams won the overall competition in an invitation match at Yelverton with a better ball stableford score of 39 points on Saturday.

Okehampton have won through to the quarter-finals of the Palairet Trophy where they meet Staddon Heights Golf Club at Teignmouth on Sunday July 28 at 1pm.

Support from members of Okehampton Golf Club on the day would be appreciated.

Entries are now being taken for Simon Jefferies' last professional day on Saturday, August 10 which is for teams of four with two scores to count.
