JOBSEEKERS will find it easier to look for work in Okehampton following the arrival of hi-tech terminals called jobpoints.
The traditional rows of display boards with cards advertising local job vacancies have been replaced with electronic touch screen terminals that have access to every other Jobcentre vacancy in the country — over 400,000 jobs.
Local people can now select from a user friendly screen the type of work they are looking for as well as the locations they are prepared to travel to. The jobpoint then produces a list of jobs to match the individual's requirements.
Okehampton Jobcentre manager Margaret Houghton said the new facility was being slowly introduced across the country.
'Jobpoints will prove a tremendous help to local people looking for employment,' she said.
'They are quick and easy to use and have been designed with wheelchair users in mind.'
