WEST Devon band Jiromist played for free to help Tavistock Under-14 rugby team raise money for their trip to Ireland at the end of April. The musical evening at the rugby club, organised by Christine and Ray Robinson, raised £750 for the team?s tour. Band member Rory Gilmore said the group had been together, on and off, for about a year. They come from different backgrounds with different musical influences and styles, ranging from Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden. Playing for the rugby club was ?a window of opportunity?, he said. The band has been asked to support other bands, including Blue Steel on April 2 at the Ordulph Arms, for which tickets cost £2.50. They are currently raising money for a studio.
