OKEHAMPTON Netball League used some of their Awards for All money to hold two tournaments at Okehampton College.

The first tournament took place on February 12 with ten teams of mixed ability taking part, all under 13s (Year 8).

The final was fought to the bitter end between the two teams who were captained by Natasha Day and Jessica Day, with two periods of extra time.

The game had to be decided by a golden goal as there was nothing to separate the teams. The winners were Jessica Day?s team.

Mrs Angela Herrod-Taylor, who came along to help, presented all the players with medals.

The second tournament took place on February 19 as an inter-house competition with nine teams all under 12s (Year 7). Each house had three teams representing Cranmere, Steeperton and Fernworthy and were playing for points to the overall house cup at the end of the school year.

The tournament had two parts, the first to gain points, was in three sections. The overall winners with 13 points were Cranmere. This was followed by a small knockout between the three winners of each section who were Steeperton Yellow, Cranmere Green and Fernworthy Pink.

The final was between Steeperton Yellow and Cranmere Green with Steeperton Yellow coming out on top.

Again everyone who took part had a medal which was presented by Mrs Herrod-Taylor.

Okehampton Netball League is open to everyone over 13 years of age, if anyone is interested in further information they should contact Mrs Herrod-Taylor on 01837 840742.
