A FOLLY GATE woman is sounding out a career as an audiologist ? a person who treats hearing and communication problems ? after graduating from her course in Nottingham.

Jenny Cleave, from Folly Gate, recently completed the Medical Physics and Physiological Measurements HNC on a block release course run through Nottingham People?s College.

Jenny completed the two year course while working at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

She is well on her way to becoming fully recognised by the British Association of Audiologists, she has already passed her theory exam and just has to pass one more practical element in the spring.

Four years ago, Jenny had a cochlear implant which gave her back her hearing after years of deafness. Jenny said the operation to restore her hearing helped give her the confidence to train for a career in medicine.

Jenny, 31, is a former pupil of Hatherleigh Primary School and Okehampton College.

During her course, Jenny made use of the top training facilities at Birmingham City Hospital and the Queen?s Medical Centre in Nottingham.
