THE Tamar Valley Jazz Association has ceased to exist because it is no longer able to continue presenting live jazz events. But opening in its place is the Tamar Valley Recorded Jazz Society which plays recorded jazz instead of hosting live performances. At the TVJAs anuual meeting held in April, a majority of members agreed the association?s other activity of providing evenings of recorded jazz and allied music, should carry on, as it was no longer able to fulfil its original prime constitutional purpose of presenting live jazz events in the area. A new organisation, Tamar Valley Recorded Jazz Society (TVRJS), will hold monthly meetings in line with the monthly social evening of the association, on the third Monday of each month at the Ordulph Arms in Tavistock. The first programme, ?TVJA remembered?, was held in May, featuring recordings of artists who appeared over the ten years of TVJAs existence. Anyone who is interested in becoming a member of the society should contact Margaret Hillman, TVRJS secretary, on 01822 617313.
