Devon and Exeter senior three

South Zeal Utd 2

Kentisbeare 0

HAVING beaten Kentisbeare away several weeks ago Zeal completed the double against them on Saturday in a scrappy game made difficult by the conditions and the state of the pitch.

Zeal were the far better side in the first half and went in at half time leading by 2-0 courtesy of two well taken goals by Jamie Atherton.

The home side should have had a more emphatic lead at half time but the woodwork saved the visitors in the first five minutes when Harley Cann's close range effort hit the bar and many more chances went narrowly wide.

The second half was all about Zeal's defence in which Lee Gilbert was tremendous with the support of Garry Smith and Tim Sanderson, and Sean Sendacott never missed a thing in difficult conditions in the Zeal goal.

Zeal created another hatful of chances but could not find the net, although Redd Cann who had a great game in mid field went close and Scott Hooper, who also had played well, hit the bar from 20 yards.

This was a very solid performance by Zeal who will now be on the road for several weeks.

l Next week South Zeal United are away to Pinhoe, kick-off 2-15pm.
