SHEBBEAR College students gave tremendous support to Derek Smale and Joel Horne at athletics' Devon County Championships last weekend.

Derek won three gold medals and Joel came second in the 100m, 200m and 4x100 relay races. Joel from Hatherleigh, enjoys training with Derek and says he has given him great encouragement.

'It is now up to you to continue running for Shebbear,' says A-level student Derek, who will be leaving Shebbear this summer to take up university in the autumn. Derek lives near Bude.
