A VISIT to a ruined castle and a boat trip down the Loire were among the highlights of the recent Okehampton Twinning Association visit to Craon.
Also included during the four-day programme over the Bank Holiday weekend was wine-tasting, picnics and a dinner dance.
Old and young entered into the twinning spirit. The younger members enjoyed playing football, milking cows while staying on a farm, as well as improving their language skills.
'It's fun practising French with French people and experiencing French culture,' said Tess, aged 15.
Twelve-year-old Jack said: 'I've learnt more French this weekend than in a whole year of school.'
Next summer the twinning group will be hosting the French contingent in Okehampton and would welcome new families and anyone else interested in getting involved with the twinning association. For more information contact Nike Westman on 01837 52246.
