THE ladies of Yelverton Golf Club played their monthly stableford competition, combined with the Norton Rose Bowl competition for the individual player over 55 years of age.
Annette Sweeney won the silver division with 40 points, runner-up was Trudy Luke with 37, and third was Gilly Jarvis with 36 points. Diane Reardon won the bronze division with 46 points; runner-up was Mary Geen with 39 and third was Annie Marshall with 34 points. Annette Sweeney won the Norton Rose bowl.
On August 21 the ladies had an ?away day? at the Oake Manor golf club, near Taunton. This was an enjoyable day, with good golf, fine weather and lots of fun.
On August 31 a friendly mixed match was played at Yelverton against Tavistock. There were nine four ball better ball matches, resulting in a win for the home team by eight matches to one.
There were excellent wins for Yelverton by Paul Creaven (captain) and Marie Watson, Brian and Anne Medhurst, John and Di Friend, Dave and Angie Howard, Dave and Pat Gove, Mike and Shirley Trevena, Keith and Mary Stokes and Mike and Joyce Martin. Dennis and Lyn Jones won their match for Tavistock.
There is lots of golf to be played at Yelverton in the coming weeks, including a four ball better ball ladies? open on September 1, and a Greensome mixed open on September 7.
The semi-finals of Devon County Ladies? Golf Association?s Scratch Competition take place at Tiverton Golf Club tomorrow (Friday. Yelverton are playing against Exeter, and Teignmouth are playing against Churston. The final will be played on the same course in the afternoon. Spectators welcome.
