THE new Okehampton Community Hospital will have its official opening ceremony next Thursday, May 22, at 12-noon.
The committee of the New Okehampton Hospital Appeal are delighted to announce the end is in sight and the hospital will soon be fully operational.
The idea is that the opening ceremony should be an informal celebration of the achievement of raising well over the £250,000 target in two years.
The committee have been selling balloon labels for a year now and the balloon race will be a major part of the ceremony.
One hundred children from across the area the hospital will serve, will let go more than 1,000 balloons in a glorious, colourful spectacle.
The band from Okehampton College will be playing and the committee say speeches will be kept to a minimum.
