?RHYME and blues murder? will be let loose this month when three great bands come together to present a ?mad, bad and dangerous? evening of entertainment at The Wharf, Tavistock. Described as one of Britain?s very best live bands The Hamsters have teamed up with two other notable groups, Wilko Johnson and John Otway to present an autumn tour appropriately called: ?Mad, Bad and Dangerous?. They will appear together at The Wharf on December 17 at 8pm. During their 19 years together, The Hamsters have played more than 3,500 concerts; made nine albums and five concert films. Their music has been used in the ?Top Gear? television programme and they also contributed a track for the Radio 2 documentary, ?Bright Lights, Big City?, which traces the history of British Rhythm and Blues, from the 1950s to the present day. Wilko Johnson will bring his own unique brand of Rhythm?n?Blues-based rock to the show. He is famous for making some of the most influential music produced in this country since the Rock?n?Roll era began. John Otway?s group is the third band appearing at The Wharf on December 17. He first became famous in 1977 when he appeared on the ?Old, Grey Whistle Test? show. Next year (2006) he plans a world tour in his own chartered jet, to take in such prestigious venues as New York?s Carnegie Hall; Caesar?s Palace in Las Vegas; Sydney Opera House and the Albert Hall in London.
