FOLLOWING the success of the Hatherleigh Street Market over the Easter holidays and now every Tuesday, and the attempt to regenerate the town I am pleased to say that things are beginning to look a lot better for both the town's folk and the tourist alike.

Although a long way to go, people area realising that our small town is open for business and offers a great deal, from pubs to potteries, gifts to grocers, and all manner of things in between.

The smiling faces of people meeting each other at the market after what seems like an age being shut off from normality are a pleasure to see. And I would like to give a large thanks to all involved in organising and running the market and in particular to Veronica Griffiths for all her hard work, and to the Devon Marquee Company for supplying the marquee.

A thanks also to the stall holders, without whose support the market would not be possible. I'm looking forward to seeing them all again each and every Tuesday.

I'm also looking forward to seeing more and more people in the town and I can assure them of a welcome from everyone concerned, after all, with free parking and everything you need, and more and more due to happen in the town including the successful arts festival in July, why go anywhere else.

Lastly, a thanks to all at the Okehampton Times for their support over these difficult times.
