CHRISTMAS trees are not generally the uppermost thought in people's minds during June, but the Friend's of St Eustachius' are giving them much consideration.
The Christmas tree festival held in Tavistock Parish Church over the last three years was originally planned as a one-off, but proved such an outstanding success that two further festivals took place, both with increasing participation by both exhibitors and visitors.
Early plans are that the 2012 festival will open on Dickensian Evening on Friday November 30 and will continue until Sunday December 9, concluding with a Christingle service.
Final timings and information of events included within the festival will be publicised in November. The number of trees will remain at around 55, with each tree decorated to reflect the spirit of local schools, organisations, business and charities.
Profits from the festival will be used by the friends to help maintain the parish church.
Many of last year's exhibitors have already booked a tree for this year, but organisers are keen to attract some new exhibitors to give increasing variety to the event.
