AFTER a lapse of a year, because of the foot and mouth crisis in the region, the annual Albaston run will be held on Friday, June 14, the eve of Albaston fete day.

There are two races: the mini-marathon over a distance of 6.5 miles and a relay of 9.9 miles is divided into six legs of between one and 2.5 miles.

Both races start and finish at the Queen's Head, Albaston. The mini-marathon gets under way at 7.15pm and the relay at 7.30pm.

This is the 15th such event, and to date almost £5,500 has been raised by this event since it was started in 1987, and the money donated to various local physical organisations.

There are trophies for winners of all categories, as well as medals for the winners of each relay race, and first three in the mini-marathon events.

Organiser Kathy Clarke said she hoped it would once again be a very successful event, but stressed that competitors should allow at least half an hour before the start for registration.

More information can be obtained from Kathy on (01822) 832925, or entry forms are available from Allan Dolan, Tavistock; Hindles, Callington; Albaston Post Office and the Queen's Head, Albaston.
