RUGBY fans are in for a treat with a new 'saucy' calendar featuring Tavistock Rugby Club, which was launched at the weekend to raise money and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer Action.
Newly authorised fundraiser for the charity Jean Keast, from Tavistock, used her persuasive skills to coax the club's first team to pose for the camera, to allow her to create a 2015 calendar.
The calendar will be sold to create awareness and funding towards Jean's target of raising £5,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Action.
Jean said: 'We have always had links with Tavistock Rugby Club since my eldest son used to play for the first team some years ago. When I asked them if they would help me with a calendar for 2015, the response was overwhelming.
'They have been absolutely fabulous, together with the photographer Big Oki Nicholas, who took the photos for no charge, Swoon at the Moon for designing the calendar at no charge and Dart Print who gave me a very good price.
'The calendar is for rugby fans — a little bit saucy but in the best possible taste!'
Jean's fundraising comes as a result of the death of her brother in August from pancreatic cancer.
She said after his death she started to research the cancer and was 'horrified' by the statistics.
'There is only a three percent survival rate and that has remained unchanged for over 40 years.
'Less than one percent of all cancer funding is given to the research of pancreatic cancer. It seems that two thirds of the country has never even heard of pancreatic cancer.
'Sadly it is subject to misdiagnosis and when it is finally correctly diagnosed the patient is in stage four and dies within six months — as did my brother.
'So I decided to try to raise the awareness and much needed funding.
'I am now an authorised fundraiser for Pancreatic Cancer Action and my target is to raise £5,000. I have already raised nearly £500.'
The calendar was launched at Tavistock Rugby Club on Saturday and is now on sale for £7.99 plus postage.
Jean said she hoped to raise a lot of money from the calendar and she will be looking to host a black tie party in July in Tavistock Town Hall in memory of her brother.
Anyone who would like a copy of the calendar can order one by emailing [email protected]">[email protected] or by visiting the Facebook page 'Paul's Purple Parties'.
