THERE was a magical feel to this year’s Milton Abbot Village Show.

The theme of magic was held throughout the show with children making edible wands, wizard hats, spells and creating a house of cards.

Entries were strong and the show continued in fine form.

Sonja Watson was still very much involved in the show, this year as a competitor, where she won both the Joyce Towler Perpetual Award for the highest points in the floral art classes and the Iris Snell Plate for the best exhibit in the floral art classes.

Dave Hatwell won the Garlic perpetual cup for the highest points in the flower classes and also the Claude Masters cup for the best exhibit in the flower classes. Dave also won the Harold Alford perpetual cup for the gentleman gaining the highest points in the show.

Sheila Martin won the cup for the best roses in the show with a beautifully scented red rose. Andrew Lopes won the Lancaster perpetual cup for the highest points in the vegetable classes and also the cup for the best vegetables in the show with four stunning carrots. Arthur Vigers won the perpetual award given by Mrs Ball for the highest points in the fruit classes.

The cookery classes were well represented and Hilary Tucker swept the board winning both the Garlic perpetual award for the highest points in the cookery classes, the Mrs M Blanchard award for the best exhibit in the cookery classes and also the voucher for the best set recipe which this year was a marble cake. Hilary also won the trophy given by Mrs P Spear for the lady gaining the highest points in the show.

Charlie Tucker won the perpetual shield for the highest points in the children’s flower classes. The Avril Hocking award for the best exhibit in the children’s classes was won by Angel Holland, whilst Kirsty Cox won both the youth club perpetual cup for the child gaining the highest points in the children’s classes and the Womens Institute cup for the highest points in the children’s handicraft and cookery classes.

The cup for the highest points in the adult handicraft classes was won by Pam Nicholson, who also won the cup for the best exhibit in the handicraft classes.

In the photography classes the Mr and Mrs P D Tucker cup for the highest points in the photography classes was won by D Nilsson and the best exhibit in the photography classes was won by Anne Fryer.

The Milton Abbot art group trophy for the highest points in the art classes was won by S Verstengen Lambell.
