OUTRAGEOUS, inventive with a very dark twisting humour, Brighton-based Spymonkey bring their latest show, Cooped, to Lydford's Nicholls Hall on Saturday March 9 at 7.30pm.
With a very adult content and style Spymonkey have won a strong following wherever they perform. This will be their second visit to Devon for Villages in Action and those who saw their last show, Stiff, are looking forward to this with great anticipation.
Spymonkey are hard to define. Four exceptionally versatile and professional performers turn their sights on the world of pulp gothic romance, creating the central character of Laura du Lay.

Cooped is directed by the internationally acclaimed Cal McCrystal, who is known for his very physical style of theatre. At the Edinburgh Festival Fringe last year Spymonkey received rave reviews from audience and critic alike. Cooped just has to be seen, catch them this time round before they are snapped up by Channel 4 television, with whom they are currently negotiating.
Whatever their subject, Spymonkey will find the absurdest take on it and load it with as many visual gags as possible! The Times said Cooped was 'so funny it would be ridiculous to miss it', and 'it made me laugh so much my throat hurt'.
