A PROPOSAL to hold a ?green audit? was given the thumbs up by members of Tavistock Town Council during their meeting last week. The suggestion came from new town mayor Cllr Caroline Keane, who offered to make a presentation to councillors on the idea. Cllr Martin Taylor backed the proposal. He said: ?There is a lot of expertise in West Devon which we can draw on, and I think as a quality council we should be undertaking it. ?I think with the status this town has achieved during the year, this would be a continuation and I?m sure our children and grandchildren would thank us.? Cllr Alison Clish-Green said West Devon Borough Council?s recycling education officer was ?absolutely brilliant?. ?He goes round schools and does audits ? I am sure he could advise or even do it for us,? said Cllr Clish-Green. Cllr Brian Trew said a full green audit would require a fair amount of work: ?I think it?s a great idea, I fully support it and I am absolutely confident if we did it properly it would save us money too.? The council agreed to invite West Devon?s recycling education officer to a future meeting ? the mayor will also prepare a power point presentation on green audits.
