A PUBLIC vote of thanks was this week issued by North Dartmoor Access Committee, which is delighted with recent improvements carried out in the town?s branch of Lloyds TSB bank.

David Terry, chairman of the group, said the bank ?deserved an accolade? for the work carried out at the bank to make it more accessible for the disabled.

He said the bank had installed low counters for people in wheelchairs, seating for people with limited mobility, and facilities for people who are hard of hearing.

Mr Terry said: ?They?ve done a grand job. It?s not often that you can say something nice about a bank, but they deserve a pat on the back.?

Manager of Lloyds TSB in Okehampton Louise Davey said a variety of improvements had been carried out at the branch over time and a recent reorganisation had made access even easier.

?We are continually trying to improve facilities that we offer to our disabled customers ? it?s nice to be praised instead of slated!? she said.
