THE Ten Tors Orchestra and Choir will be presenting a Gala Christmas Concert at St Eustachius Church, Tavistock, on Saturday December 18 at 7.30 pm. The concert will feature English National Opera star soprano Louise Cannon, performing one of the truly moving arias Casta Diva from Bellini?s grand opera Norma as well as selections from Handel?s Messiah with the choir and orchestra. The Ten Tors Orchestra will also perform Winter from Vivaldi?s Four Seasons, Mozart?s Symphony No 17 in G major and Johann Strauss? Roses from the South Waltz. The violin soloist is co-leader of the Ten Tors Orchestra, Mary Eade. The audience is invited to join in the singing of Christmas carols. Simon Ible, conductor of the Ten Tors Orchestra and Choir said: ?This is the perfect festive programme ? a little Mozart, the shivering ice of Vivaldi?s Winter, uplifting choruses from Messiah, the heated passion from Bellini?s opera, and a Roses from the South from the Waltz King. ?And there are carols to top it all. This will set you up for Christmas!? Tickets priced £14 (£5 students and children) are available from Mansbridge and Balment Estate Agents, 9 Brook Street, Tavistock.
