MAY I through your columns take this opportunity to publicly express my personal thanks to the following people for helping to get the Tree of Light project well and truly off the ground.
Tavistock Town Council for supplying the tree on the town hall and their staff for erecting it and fixing the lights (what a saving for me!);
The chamber of commerce for their assistance in organising the lighting up ceremony; the Rev John Rawlings, the Rev Jeff Moles and Father Sunny Paul for conducting the dedication service; Stannary Brass Band for attending the ceremony; SWEB and Barclays Bank for sponsoring part of the set up costs; and last, but certainly by no means least, Tavistock Times Gazette for your ready support of this project without which it would not have come to fruition.
Money is still coming in and all proceeds will be presented to the Macmillan Nurses early in January when the total has been realised and with your further assistance this will be published in the Times.
To all those people who have generously sponsored lights in memory of their loved ones a massive thank you, without you this project would have been meaningless. As one sponsor said 'When I look at the tree I think mine is the top light,' but her father said 'No everybody takes it in turn'. What more can I say? Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone involved a very Happy Christmas and successful New Year.
