I AM writing in response to the letter sent by Ian Gasper and to the Reflections column in this newspaper dated May 1. Ian Gasper declares that UKIP holds a simplistic view of the world meaning that this view is over simplified so as to conceal or distort difficulties. On the contrary, it is because UKIP MEPs have been so active that we know just what is going on in the EU. For example the difficulty in running a top heavy system of government. Pastor Jeff Jacobson points us to the life and teachings of Jesus as a guide for life. Certainly Jesus spent some time looking at the pointless rules and regulations issued by the ruling class of his day. He taught by means of simple stories one of which tells how two men built houses; one built on sand, the other on rock. When the floods came, you can guess which house stood firm. There is a debate about whether or not Britain is a Christian country. It is true to say that we are built on Christian foundations while the EU is built on secular foundations which turn out to be shifting sands. On May 22 we all have a choice in the way we cast our vote. UKIP supports our Judeo/Christian tradition. Is that simplistic? V A Cushing Okehampton
