A COMMUNITY forum based in Okehampton is encouraging local people to get involved in their community by attending its meetings.

The Devon Heartlands Community Forum works with all groups and individuals to make the community a better place in which to live.

The forum is extending an invitation to anyone to attend its meetings, including individuals and groups of residents, local organisations and agencies, as well as representatives from parish, town, borough and county councils.

Forum member Hyder Pirwany said: 'No matter how modest you feel your contribution may be, you will find having a place like a community forum to share your ideas and concerns with others can be a rewarding experience.'

The group meets at the Ockment Centre in Okehampton at 2pm on the first Wednesday of every month, and everybody is welcome.
