STANNARY Brass Band has had a boost to its instrument fund thanks to a recent grant.

The band was delighted to receive a grant of £500 from the Norman Family Charitable Trust to go to the instrument fund.

The band offers free instrument loan and tuition to beginners aged six and above. Several instruments are currently available, including some brand new lightweight plastic trombones that come in a range of colours.

All that is required from learners is a commitment to attend weekly rehearsals, helped by some practising at home.

The band believes music is a valuable skill that provides tremendous mental stimulation and can become an absorbing, enjoyable interest that will last a lifetime.
