a select group of Tavistock students were blessed with a visit from four members of the internationally acclaimed London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC).

The choir, which had been on stage until late the previous evening in Torquay's Princess Theatre, regularly performs around the world in concerts as well as contributing to feature film sound tracks and stage productions.

A singing workshop, arranged at short notice, was led by choir members Annette Bowen, Evy Lee, Adetoun Anibi and Jon Rattenbury. The students learned harmonies for a medley of traditional Gospel choruses and a more contemporary Gospel number, which currently features in the choir's performances.

All those involved found the workshop an inspirational experience. The representatives of the choir commented positively on the students' enthusiasm and the high quality of the sound produced by the Tavistock College Gospel Choir, which draws on the experience gained by its director, Jon Bint, in his previous work with the LCGC.

The following evening some of the Year 12 choir members went to see LCGC perform live in Carnglaze Cavern, near Liskeard.
