A GROUP of speakers from Devon churches have returned from Nairobi where they spoke to an audience of Kenyan young people. The Rev Simon Bourne, from Inspiration Church of the Nations International in Okehampton travelled to the Kenyan capital with Kevin Ball, also from Inspiration, and Chris Andrew from Langtree Methodist Church. They were invited by Bishop Isaiah Challo, who visited the UK last May, to speak at Living Water International?s first ever Youth Conference in December. The three spoke to 250 young people aged 12 to 30. The conference was divided into seminars in the afternoons with Chris speaking to the 12 to 17 year olds, Kevin to the 17 to 25-year-olds and Simon to those over 26, many of whom wanted help and advice on living a Christian lifestyle while at work. The visitors were also invited to a united youth service to experience another side of life in Nairobi. Simon said: ?The evening started with six people in a small room ? an hour later, following songs and prayer, there were 26. At least three youngsters shared testimonies about how they valued the support and prayers of the others during the recent days as they had to bury their parents. ?The most amazing fact is that many of these young people will be moving to Dubai to take their faith into the heart of the United Arab Emirates Simon added: ?It was a truly remarkable trip, we have so much materially, but are very poor spiritually and I have learnt so much.? This is Inspiration?s third trip to Living Waters International in Nairobi and they are pleased it is not only the adult conferences they are supporting but the youth and the Kingdom Restoration Project ? a scheme incorporating reservoirs and irrigation systems to support self-sustainable agriculture for the people of Kenya.
