THE Dartmoor Inn at Lydford will be battling it out with a hotel in Honiton, East Devon in a search by UKTV Food to find its local food hero. Karen Burgess, who co-owns the inn with her husband, chef Philip, will be seen competing in the South West heat on November 20 on a UKTV Food programme, which will be hosted by celebrity chef Gary Rhodes. The 16th century inn featured in last week's Times, when Philip was honoured by Restaurant magazine for creating the UK's best breakfast. Karen was chosen for the competition, which will feature 10 regional winners who go forward to compete for the national title of UKTV Food local hero, because her inn is described as having 'a smart yet relaxed dining room and food based on local and seasonal ingredients'.
