THE members of the Tamar and Tavy Gig Club are well underway with their preparations for the World Pilot Gig Championships to be held on the Isles of Scilly at the end of April.
Winter indoor-rowing training sessions have been well attended, all eager to improve their fitness levels ready to start gig rowing in earnest next week, after the re-launch of their wooden gig 'Ginette' fresh from her winter maintenance.
'Tamar' is still awaiting her final coat of paint before she too will be re-launched ready for the hard season ahead.
l The club is currently raising funds for the purchase of a new GRP gig to complement their two wooden gigs and would like to appeal to everyone in the Tavistock area for any used aluminium cans.
These can be taken to Plumbase in Tavistock, who have kindly offered their premises as a collection point or contact Mike Barnes on [email protected]">[email protected] to arrange collection.
