WITH a busy summer festival tour lined up for the summer of 2009, and after being blacklisted from so many prestige venues, popular indie rock band 'Bombay Bicycle Club' looked to their creative side for inspiration to fill a gap in the diary.
Asking fans to come up with a more creative location for the four-piece indie rock band from North London to play an intimate acoustic set, the final list of four places that would become the 'Tour for Lulu' included the once largest copper ore port in Queen Victoria's empire, Morwellham Quay.
Having just played three dates at Glastonbury Festival, and with their new record 'I Had The Blues But Shook Them Loose' recently featured as Radio 1 presenter Zane Lowe's album of the week, the chance to see them at the local World Heritage Site and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty created a buzz of excitement.
After spending the day dressing up in costume, riding on the horse and carts and even playing an acoustic version of their latest single 'Dust on the Ground' down the mine, Bombay Bicycle Club set the Quay alive on the GarlandStone Ship, to the small audience of around 100.
