IT'S never too late to learn . . . Tavistock's Meadowlands Leisure Centre is celebrating the success of Frank McKay and Dorothy O'Shea, who have recently learned to swim.
After years of struggling to swim and a fear of water both have gone on to be competent, confident swimmers.
Dorothy has battled with a fear of water for many years but with the help and support of instructors at Meadowlands Leisure Centre she is improving lesson after lesson.
After questioning whether she would ever learn to swim Dorothy can now swim a full length of the pool (25km) and is determined to continue building on her skills.
Frank had many reservations about learning to swim and doubted his ability, but after attending lessons at Meadowlands Leisure Centre he can now swim the full length of the pool on his back.
Jon Smith, contract manager at Meadowlands Leisure Centre, said: 'We would like to congratulate Dorothy and Frank —they've done so well.
'Our adult swimming lessons are the perfect way to build a swimmer's confidence with the help and support of our terrific team of swimming instructors. We recommend these lessons to anyone who doubts their swimming ability —you can learn to swim at whatever age.'
Meadowlands Leisure Centre offers two adult learning swimming sessions on Tuesdays between 11am and noon and 6pm and7pm.
