YELVERTON Ladies reached the Still Cup semi finals which were played in extremely windy conditions at Bigbury Golf Club on Friday.
The players were Laura Eastwood, Belinda McSherry, Gilly Jarvis, Barbara Perriton, Karen Friendship, Bunty Salz and Caroline Theyer, with Marie Watson and June Smalley the reserves.
The semi-finals were played in the morning and had to be stopped temporarily for a passing thunderstorm.
Yelverton played against Churston and won 4-3, with excellent wins from Barbara Perriton, Karen Friendship, Bunty Salz and Caroline Theyer.
The afternoon finals were Yelverton v Teignmouth, who won in the semi-finals against RNS. Yelverton last reached the Still Cup finalsin 1974, when Bunty Salz was also playing for the team.
They played the same team and there was some excellent golf, in ghastly winds, with excellent wins from Laura, Karen and
Caroline.
Bunty Salz had the pressure of playing the 17th knowing they were 3-3. Sadly, the play went against Yelverton, but they congratulate Teignmouth for winning the Still Cup for the third year running.
Yelverton won the E Young Bowl.
l On August 23 Laura won the Golf Foundation U16 championships sponsored by Weetabix, played at Patshull Park Golf Club, Shropshire. Congratulations to Laura, who is hitting the ball beautifully.
